The program supports doctoral supervisors in developing and reflecting the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to guide a diverse range of candidates to successful and timely completion.

It explores the changing roles and responsibilities over the doctoral life cycle and provides hands-on tools and recommendations to establish and maintain a positive working relationship – not only with doctoral candidates but also masters’ students and postdocs.

By participating in the workshop, you will be better equipped to:

  • Understand the evolving nature and purpose of doctoral education
  • Build working relationships with both candidates and co-supervisors
  • Support doctoral research projects and monitor progress
  • Scaffold professional and personal support to individual needs
  • Prepare effectively for thesis completion and examination
  • Develop your supervisory practice

This highly interactive workshop employs presentations and plenary discussions, individual and small group work, experience sharing and expert advice.
