About the Graduate Center
The Graduate Center is the central service facility for early career researchers at TU Dortmund University. It supports researchers on their career path and supplements the departments' specialist training with cross-disciplinary advice, qualifications and networking.
Central service for all qualification phases
As a central service facility of TU Dortmund University, the Graduate Center offers comprehensive support for all academic qualification phases:
- (Prospective) doctoral candidates
- Postdocs
- Junior faculty (habilitation candidates, junior research group leaders, junior professors)
The Graduate Center supports researchers in every career phase - from Master's students interested in a doctorate to junior professors on the way to a lifetime professorship.

What services does the Graduate Center offer?

The Graduate Center supports researchers at all stages of their qualification:
- Advice: The Graduate Center is the first point of contact for questions from researchers in the early stages of their careers.
- Qualification: Our workshop program imparts skills for your academic work and careers in science, business, and society.
- Networking: Our events bring together researchers from all departments at TU Dortmund University.
In addition, the Graduate Center uses its expertise to advise departments on their structured doctoral programs and researchers on applications for third-party funding.
How is the Graduate Center structured?
The Graduate Center is a joint institution of the Research Funding Unit and the Equal Opportunities, Family and Diversity Unit. It is TU Dortmund University's central service unit for ECRs.
In addition to its own services, it acts as a central platform for the wide range of services offered by TU Dortmund University, for example from Human Resources Development and the Center for Higher Education, the International Office, the University Library and the Center for Entrepreneurship & Transfer.
The Graduate Center is part of the UA Ruhr-wide Research Academy Ruhr, the joint platform for promoting young researchers at the universities of Bochum, Dortmund and Duisburg-Essen.
