To be successful in an academic environment, it is important to be perceived and valued as a scientist. The workshop provides ideas on how you can become visible in the research and university context and position yourself strategically. It addresses how you can deal with the diverse expectations without getting lost in day-to-day business.

Contents:

  • Strategic positioning – understanding the positioning criteria in university context
  • Situation analysis – changing perspectives and gaining clarity regarding (power) relations
  • Expectation management – recognising different interests and your own role(s)
  • Effective communication – shaping relationships and addressing difficult topics
  • Advocating for your own interests in science / university - understanding and dealing with ‘political’ games

Methods:

  • short impulses / introduction of tools, many interactive parts, time for individual questions, trainer adjusts content focus to the needs of the group
