Events: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The Graduate Center of TU Dortmund University bears the costs for the events and your participation. This means that there are no costs for you as a participant. However, it is important that you make a binding plan for your participation in the events and only cancel in exceptional cases, such as illness, so that we can fill the courses to capacity and continue to offer such a diverse range of courses.

The events of the Graduate Center are aimed at those interested in a doctorate, doctoral researchers, postdocs, and junior faculty of all departments of TU Dortmund University. The specific target groups of individual events are indicated accordingly. Please feel free to contact us if you are not sure whether you belong to one of these target groups: graduiertenzentrumtu-dortmundde.

On the website you will also find events offered by other TU institutions. Therefore, please note that a valid TU account is required for some registration procedures. In addition, various offers are e.g. only accessible for students, others only for employees of the university. This is indicated accordingly in each case.

There you will find an overview of all offers for your target group. You will find the button for registration on the respective event page, including further details.

1. Registration (until registration deadline): On the Eveeno page of the corresponding event
2. Receipt & admission (upon submitting the Eveeno form): Confirmation of successful data transfer & confirmation of admission (if directly possible).

If an event is already fully booked, we will also inform you about this. We will then contact you immediately by e-mail as soon as a place becomes available due to cancellations ("invitation to participate"). Please understand that this may happen at very short notice.

If you register with a University Alliance Ruhr e-mail address (i.e. with an e-mail address from one of the universities of Bochum, Dortmund or Duisburg-Essen), you will directly receive the (2) confirmation of receipt & confirmation of participation (if directly possible) after the ( 1) registration via an Eveeno page of the corresponding event. Your registration is binding.

If you register with a different email address, please briefly explain in the corresponding form field how your connection to the university is (e.g. by specifying your faculty and your PhD supervision).

For registrations, 'first come, first served' applies. Deviations from this rule may occur if events take place in cooperation with other providers, for example.

For events of the Graduate Center you can usually register via our website until 3 weeks before the 1st day of the event . Please note the date of the event directly in your calendar.

Your registration is binding and forms our planning basis, so please only cancel your participation in rare exceptional cases.

If you are unable to attend an event for which you had registered, please write a short message in any case to graduiertenzentrumtu-dortmundde with the subject "Cancellation: event title".

Please also inform us by e-mail if you are unable to attend an event at short notice, e.g. due to illness.

Please note that other providers have their own cancellation policies.

The courses cost money, which TU Dortmund University provides from tax revenues of the state of NRW.

Unfilled places cause costs and deprive a colleague of the chance to participate. We would like to avoid both. You can support us in this by keeping your registration binding and canceling only in rare exceptional cases.

The Graduate Center serves as a platform for university-internal "third parties", i.e. providers of qualification programs which are also targeted at early-career researchers. The idea is that you, as part of our target group, can find all the offers available to you in one place.
