Junior Faculty
Advanced postdocs, possibly pursuing habilitation, junior research group leaders, and junior professors (with and without tenure track): We summarize these different career phases under the term Junior Faculty. They conduct independent research and aim for a professorship. This career phase is characterized by strategic planning of your own research, staff management, qualification for professorship, and application.
Of all the phases of a research career, the junior faculty is particularly individual and demanding.
In addition to the requirements known from the postdoctoral phase (excellent research, acquisition of external funding, supervision, networking), this phase also includes the leadership and management of a research group, marketing of the own research as well as the acquisition of prestigious funding formats or awards in order to successfully obtain a professorship.
The Graduate Center offers for this phase focused career coaching, in-depth transferable skills training within the framework of the Research Academy Ruhr, and intensive networking opportunities with colleagues at the same career level.
