Career Certificates for Doctoral Researchers

The certificate programs "Academia & Research" and "Management & Leadership" prepare doctoral researchers optimally for their career after the doctorate.

The certificates offer you the advantage of structured preparation for your future career path, and the acquisition of appropriate transferable skills already during your doctorate. In addition, you can use the certificate in applications to signal your commitment to potential employers.

At some departments, you can also fulfill parts of the requirements of your structured doctoral program by acquiring the certificate.

As a doctoral student at TU Dortmund University, you can choose from two program lines:

To successfully complete one of the certificates, participants must achieve 80 work units (WU) of specific events and workshops. Each work unit typically includes a workload of 45 minutes - however, the specific indication in the workshop description (or table) applies.

Typical length of events and workshops:

  • Information event / short workshop: 2 - 4 WU
  • One-day workshop: 8 WU
  • Two-day workshop: 16 WU

All creditable events are marked and the respective work units are shown! Graduate Center workshops that you have already attended can also be credited.

As soon as you have collected all work units for a certificate, send us an email to graduiertenzentrumtu-dortmundde.

All participations will be listed on the certificate.
