In this workshop, doctoral researchers will get an overview of the requirements of a career in academia, and learn how they can increase their chances of succeeding on their path to a professorship. In addition, the workshop offers space for reflection on whether an academic career is in line with one's own competencies, goals, and values.

Many doctoral researchers are faced with the decision of whether to pursue a career in academia. However, the path to remaining in academia in the long term is highly competitive, and it is determined by a large number of various success factors. This makes it all the more important to develop a career strategy at an early stage.

In this workshop, doctoral researchers will get an overview of the requirements and success factors for the path to a professorship - and learn about alternatives. Participants will also have the opportunity to conduct a structured self-assessment of the extent to which an academic career is the right path for them.

After successful participation in this workshop, doctoral researchers will know the basic requirements of an academic career and how to effectively assess their own personal fit with this career path.
