The workshop is designed for doctoral researchers in their final year who consider developing their career in academia beyond the doctorate. It also provides essential guidance on exploiting research funding opportunities effectively at the postdoctoral stage. Participants will learn how to apply strategy to develop their research agenda, identify a portfolio of funding opportunities to be pursued in the coming years and manage the grant life cycle systematically to build their resources and capabilities in an increasingly competitive research environment.
The workshop addresses on the challenges and perspectives of developing a career in academia, explores the particularities of conducting research in higher education institutions and highlights the criteria for career progression. It aims to assess the current position, to identify career goals and to develop a road map for how to achieve them.
