In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore practical leadership skills essential for guiding student assistants, small groups, and doctoral dissertations.
The two half-day sessions will cover aspects of communication strategies, providing constructive feedback, motivation and conflict management. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss specific supervisory challenges they face in their roles, fostering peer-to-peer learning and collaborative problem-solving. This workshop aims to empower postdocs with the skills and confidence needed to create a positive and productive academic environment for both themselves and their students.
Participants will have
- reflected on their role and style of supervision,
- enhanced their ability to communicate clearly, provide constructive feedback, and support students in various academic contexts,
- engaged in a supportive network among postdoctoral researchers, encouraging the exchange of best practices and experiences in student supervision.

- Target group: Postdocs of all research fields of the UA Ruhr universities (max. 12 participants)
